AN INJURED hiker was taken to hospital after slipping on a coastal path and injuring herself on Portland.

Portland Bill Coastguard received the call at 1pm on Tuesday to the woman who had injured herself while walking along the path at West Cliff.

Once she was located, the coastguard crew stabilised her leg before transporting her to hospital.

A spokesperson for Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Team tasked by Solent Coastguard to the coastal path on West Cliff, to a female hiker who had slipped and sustained a lower leg injury.

“Once the lady and her husband had been located the team stabilised her leg using frac strapping and recovered them to a safe position.

“They were then transported to Dorchester County Hospital for further medical treatment. We wish her a speedy recovery.”
