THE LANDMARK Jubilee Clock on Weymouth's seafront is to be lit up again throughout 2022 in honour of charities - and members of the public are being urged to nominate causes to be recognised.
Weymouth Town Council is on the lookout for charities and good causes to be honoured with the Jubilee Clock light-up scheme.
Cllr Colin Huckle, mayor of Weymouth, said: "We’re delighted to once again be raising awareness for charities and good causes using this well-known landmark.
"The Jubilee Clock is one of Weymouth’s most recognisable sights and a proud symbol of Weymouth’s heritage.
"Weymouth Town Council look forward to receiving a diverse range of nominations from the public."
The initiative will light up the clockface with colours that represent different charities. One charity will be represented per month, with the clock being lit for up to three days during the month.
In 2021, the clockface was illuminated on a number of occasions in support of charities which were nominated by the public including Weymouth Repair Café, the RNLI, Weymouth Sea Cadets and Marie Curie.
Residents can nominate local charities they would like to see represented in 2022 by midday on Friday, January 28. Nominations will then be put forward to a panel of councillors for consideration.
