POLICE are stepping patrols around a school's playing field following reports that youths were drinking on the field and leaving litter behind.

Anti social behaviour at Hardye Fields is said to regularly impact the sports clubs that use the area.

A spokesman for Dorchester Police said: "Anti social behaviour at Thomas Hardye Fields regularly impacts on the sports clubs that use the area.

"PCSO 6534 attended the field on Saturday and heard how club members had found a bottle on the pitch even though the school groundsman had done his best to clear litter left by youths the previous evening.

"Dorchester Neighbourhood officers will continue to patrol and move persons who are drinking alcohol from the school grounds."
