Predictably, the BBC’s response to the news (pun intended) that the licence fee has been frozen for two years is to throw a hissy-fit and whine that it will have to cut programme funding.
Which begs the question as to what it has done with the money it has ‘saved’ during the pandemic as result of limitations placed on the making of new programmes, outside broadcasts, travel etc.
The main reason that the BBC is always short of money is because it pays its bloated army of executives, presenters, showbiz and sports luvvies far more than they are actually worth.
And, despite the promise made by its director general, Tim Davie, when he took office in September 2020, that he would prioritise tackling the institutional left-wing bias with which the corporation had become infected in recent years – there has been little sign of him doing so. The BBC is way past its use-by date.
Make it work for its money instead of having it delivered on a silver plate – courtesy of taxpayers.
