PUPILS at a Dorchester school will benefit from additional benches to use at break times - thanks to the talents of a young designer.
St Osmund’s School, Dorchester, has been awarded £500 by Meyers Estate Agents thanks to a winning design submitted by a student in a festive ‘design a for sale board’ competition.
Oliver, aged 10, was crowned the winner of the contest and won himself £50 worth of arts and craft supplies in addition to securing the £500 prize for his school.
The winning design was printed and used as a real-life for sale board to market properties in central Dorchester over the Christmas period.
Mark Meyer, CEO, Meyers Estate Agents said: “As an agency, we love engaging with the communities where we work and were overwhelmed by the recent response to our ‘design a for sale board’ competition. We were inundated with hundreds of dazzling designs from children from several schools around Dorchester and the surrounding villages.
"It was tough choosing our favourite board, but one stood out for its festive, friendly and colourful design."
Saira Sawtell, St Odmund's Headteacher, said: “The £500 donation will be spent on buying more outside benches for our children to sit on at break times.”
