FOUR young men fled the scene of a late-night crash that sparked a police helicopter search.

A grey Peugeot 407 was involved in a crash with the wall outside Sherborne International in Newell near to the junction with Marston Road in Sherborne at around 10.05pm on Thursday, February 3.

It is reported that four young male occupants left the vehicle and ran off in the direction of Richmond Road.

Officers attended and carried out a search of the area, assisted by the NPAS helicopter, however nobody was located.

Police Inspector Steve Hughes, of Dorset County Local Policing Area, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision and has not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“I would also urge anyone with information about the identity of those who fled the vehicle to please get in touch.

“Finally, if you have captured anything of relevance on dashcam or home CCTV, please contact Dorset Police.”
