Poundbury is Prince Charles’ flagship building project run by The Duchy of Cornwall in Dorset.

The Duchy insists that window frames shall be made only of painted wood. In spite of reasonable maintenance, the wood soon deteriorates and has to be replaced every few years, but many house owners don’t want to use wood again.

They want to benefit from the far more weatherproof replacement windows that are widely available and installed elsewhere but prohibited in Poundbury.

House owners here are irritated; how long can The Duchy suppress their reasonable aspirations?
