This lovely old photo of Rodwell Avenue in Weymouth is a treat to look at.

The detail on it is superb and despite an unfortunate blemish in the middle of the photo, you can easily make out the postman, posing with his sack next to the young tree.

Further back to the left is a woman and further to the right a line of youngsters and then two other lads standing separate to them.

Down the street on the right you can see some scaffolding on one of the houses. The tree-lined street has an air of elegance to it.

Some of the houses in Rodwell Avenue are Edwards houses, named after a former MP for Weymouth, Sir Henry Edwards.

He had houses built for the poor elderly citizens of the parish.
