TEMPORARY traffic lights in Weymouth are causing delays for drivers on a key route to town.

A two-way traffic control is in place on a section of Mercery Road near Sainsbury's supermarket. Gas Transportation is undertaking works in the area.

Work commenced on February 14 and is expected to last until March 4 at 5pm, with a warning that delays are likely due to the roadworks.

The temporary lights have been causing delays on a key bus route that people use to access Sainsbury's, Beefeater, and Aldi.

It is also used by buses and cars travelling towards the park and ride and is impacting current public transport services.

A spokesperson for bus operator First said: “Due to roadworks at Sainsbury's in Weymouth we may experience delays to our number two services today.

“Please check the First Bus app for updates. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
