A SWAN has been reportedly killed in Dorchester as police warn it is an offence to harm wild birds.
Dorchester Police confirmed they have received a report that a swan had been killed in the Lubbecke Way area.
The force warns killing a wild bird is against the law and have urged anyone who sees such an incident to report it.
A spokesperson for Dorchester Police said: “Dorchester Police have received a report of a swan being killed in the Lubbecke Way area.
“Injuring or killing a wild bird is an offence against the Wildlife and Countryside Act (WCA). All wild birds are protected under section 1 of WCA 1981.
“If this behaviour is witnessed please call 999 Or alternatively report via, 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk quoting occurrence number 55220030746.”
