A ROTARY club has donated hundreds of pounds to a local homelessness charity, in its first of a series of donations for this year.

Weymouth Rotary donated a total of £400 to The Lantern Trust after its members braved the elements in the run up towards Christmas outside The Range in the town centre to collect donations, with 100 per cent of monies raised going towards local causes.

Weymouth Rotary president, Jerry Way, said: “We are proud to support our local hard-working charities and the volunteers at the Lantern Trust work tirelessly to help those not so fortunate in our community. I’m thrilled that we have been able to donate a further £400 to the cause."

The Lantern Trust said: “A huge thank you to Weymouth Rotary club for their kind donation towards our work. Our partnership with them is yet another example of how our community works together to meet the needs of our society’s most vulnerable.”
