TWO men have been arrested in connection with an 'assault' in a Weymouth town centre barber shop.

Detectives investigating a reported assault at a Weymouth barber shop are urging any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

At around 10am on Friday March 11 it is reported an altercation took place between a group of men inside Weymouth Barbers in St Mary Street opposite Marks and Spencer.

During the incident it is alleged the victim, aged in his 20s, sustained a puncture wound to his chest. He was taken to hospital as a precaution and his injuries are not deemed to be life-threatening.

A 21-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and a 35-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Both men are known to the victim and remain in custody.

Detective Constable Lianne Williamson, of Weymouth CID, said: “We know there were likely customers in the shop at the time of the incident and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened and has not yet spoken to officers to please get in touch.

“A full investigation into this incident remains ongoing and officers from the local neighbourhood policing team will be continuing with their patrols over the week and can be approached with any concerns.”
