A POPULAR garden in Dorset has reopened following a recent refurbishment of its maze, walls, benches and paths - which are now partially made of recycled waste.

Paddock Garden in Sherborne opened once again on Friday, March 11, following the renovation of its grounds, with its pathways now made up of the ‘equivalent of 2,364,000 plastic straws’ in a mixture with stone and aggregates.

Sherborne Town Council clerk, Steve Shield, said: "I am delighted with the transformation of Paddock Garden for the enjoyment of the wider local community.

"I would like to express my thanks to Oltco (the company who made the sustainable solution which formed the paths) for the innovative and professional way they have approached and delivered this project.

"The garden has been transformed and I hope this space is enjoyed by many in the years to come."

Alongside the paths, the maze was refurbished along with repointing repairs being made to a northern wall by a local stonemason.

The benches were also cleaned and given a new coat of teak oil, while the gates were spruced up with a fresh lick of paint.

Paul Newman, who ran the project and is grounds and property manager at Sherborne Town Council, added: "We are really happy with the finished result.

"Oltco was a great company to deal with; friendly, conscientious, respectful of the garden and regularly keeping us up to date with how work was progressing."
