The Dorset County Show is returning-after a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The show will be held at its usual location at the Dorchester Showground in Cokers Frome on September 3 and 4.

For more than 180 years, the Dorchester Agricultural Society has arranged the county show and is preparing to welcome another 60,000 visitors this year.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a full programme of events and attractions across the two days including the main ring, 500 trade stands, and 6,000 exhibits from a variety of sections including; livestock, horses, homecraft and horticulture.

Nicki Ralph, Chair of Dorchester Agricultural Society commented: “We’re delighted to announce the Dorset County Show is back this year.

"We’ll see the return of all the major attractions the show is known and loved for, such as cattle and livestock, sheep shearing, vintage tractors, show jumping, shopping, and plenty of good food and drink.

“It’s important to the Society that the show continues to offer great value for money and appeals to people of all ages and walks of life.

"Attractions such as the live music in the Countryside Area, the fun fair, local artisans’ tent, as well as the Fabulous Food and Farming learning zone , make ideal family entertainment.

"We hope to see lots of new visitors this year, as well as those returning who have enjoyed the show for many years.”

The Dorset County Show showcases excellence in agriculture and supports local farmers and producers. Many Dorset based artisans will be trading over the weekend offering products such as gin, cider, cheese and jewellery.

The show takes place on the first weekend of September 2022 and ‘Early Bird’ tickets go on sale later this month. Children under the age of 16 enjoy free entry.
