We are still looking for your photos of the Queen for special commemorative articles to combine with her Platinum Jubilee.

Here's a taster of one such picture, the Queen as the-then Princess Elizabeth at Portland Harbour, which we are looking for more information on.

Alvin Hopper contacted us with this information and we have this picture to go with it, courtesy of reader Andy Webb.

Mr Hopper writes: "Seventy-three years ago this June (1949) The Royal couple came to Weymouth and Portland.

"The reason for their visit, although only spending a little time here, was to board HMS Anson, then Flagship of the Battleship Training Squadron of the Home Fleet, to sail to the Channel Islands. This was the first time, as I am aware, that our present Queen had visited the islands.

"Do any Looking Back readers remember this occasion, in this the Queen's 70th anniversary of her reign?"

Andy Webb, who shared the picture with us, informs us that: "On the jetty is the then Mayor and Mayoress of Portland, Mr & Mrs WJ Baker, the captain in charge was believed to be Captain McKenzie Edwards."

Get in touch the usual way if you can tell us more about the occasion and do keep sending through all your memories of encountering the Queen on her visits to Dorset. Email joanna.davis@dorsetecho.co.uk or call 01305 830973.
