On a summer's day in August where better to be than on Weymouth beach?
As you can see from this 1981 photo, taken on August 8, a lot of people had the same idea.
Of course, back then, the Pier Bandstand was still standing proudly, yet to be demolished, alongside it is that incredible long jetty that people would venture out onto to board pleasure boats over to Portland.
Take a closer look over to the other side of the backwater, on the left, and the eagle eyed among you will spot Chipperfields Amusement Park, which was over the other side of Radipole Lake near the miniature railway and coach park.
It was relocated to Jubilee Sidings for a few years until the early 1990s when it ceased operating.
Many readers have contacted us with their memories of the somewhat terrifying Wild Mouse ride!
