DRIVERS parking 'inconsiderately' in a Dorset village have been slammed by police.
Dangerous parking at a junction in Puddletown is putting other road users and pedestrians at risk, Dorchester Police say. Drivers found to be causing an obstruction could be fined.
Concerns about bad parking at the junction of Butt Close and Beech Road came to light during a community drop-in event held by police at Puddletown village shop today.
PCSO Alison Donnison of Dorchester Police was on hand to speak with residents and said it was the most frequently-cited issue among members of the public who attended.
Drivers are now being reminded of the Highway Code. Rule number 243 states you must not park opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space.
"Leaving your vehicle close to a junction makes it difficult and dangerous for unsighted drivers to pull out from or turn into the side road," a spokesperson for Dorchester Police said.
"Pedestrians can also be put at risk because of the restricted view this type of inconsiderate parking causes."
"It is possible to get a non-endorsable fixed penalty fine for causing an unnecessary obstruction. If an accident occurs it’s likely you’ll be taking a large proportion of the blame – and be fined accordingly."
