Organisers of Stay Awake, an annual all-Christian charismatic event held in Dorset, have announced the line-up for this year’s event, which will be held on Saturday 23 April at All Saints Church of England Academy in Weymouth.
The event offers the chance for communities to gather and enjoy a day filled with talks, praise and worship, a choice of workshops, fun activities for kids and Mass, and includes delicious refreshments rounded off with pizzas in the evening. Tickets are £10; children in year 9 and under can go free.
Jasmine de Kretser, founder of Stay Awake, said: “This is our fourth event and we are especially excited to be returning to a live format this year. This day is for everyone, young and old, families and single people, who want to worship together or who may be seeking to refresh their faith, or even to begin a journey of faith. The power of collective prayer is amazing.
Speakers will include Jonathan de Kretser, a deacon in the parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea in Weymouth and a GP; Jenny Baker, who currently leads Celebrate Trust, a national Catholic ministry that focuses on family faith; Tim Stevens, who works with CaFE (Catholic Faith Exploration) and is chair of Celebrate Trust; Sarita de Kretser, a GP who supports many parish activities including growing faith amongst young people and providing practical help to local homeless communities; Simon Clift, a lay member for the Diocese of Winchester on the General Synod of the Church of England; and Dominican Sisters Cooey and Hyacinthe. Father Anthony O’ Gorman, parish priest in Weymouth, will be celebrating Mass.Jasmine added: “This an all-Christian event so please come along and receive a blessing, everyone is welcome. Father Anthony was recently interviewed by one of our young people in the Parish and you can find the interview on Stay Awake’s website / social media; it’s well worth a watch and is sure to raise a smile or two!”
Stay Awake is an opportunity to come together with your family and friends, to ignite your faith and grow in fellowship.
