MORE than 30 acres of farmland described as ‘a dream for environmentalists’ has been put up for sale - with a guide price of £350,000.

The land at Askerswell, near Bridport, is predominantly pasture with fencing for livestock. It also includes a small area of woodland and wildflower meadows.

Part of the land has been designated a Site for Nature Conservation Interest - meaning it is recognised as being vital for wildlife. The picturesque farm also comprises a modern agricultural building that benefits from road access.

Situated in the heart of rural Dorset, the block of farmland is expected to receive ‘strong levels of interest’. The small village of Askerswell has a rich history of agricultural heritage with 20 structures in the parish listed by English Heritage.

David Cross, director at Savills Salisbury and whose farm agency team are handling the sale, says: “The availability of this land, in such a beautiful location, presents a dream opportunity for environmentalists and amenity buyers. This new environmental tier that has emerged in our market in recent years - encompassing natural capital, carbon offsetting and personal pursuits such as re-wilding – opens up a range of options to potential buyers. We are expecting a strong level of interest in the property, which also enjoys some fine, far reaching views across Dorset and, in places, includes frontage to the River Asker.”
