THE Encore Singers will be performing 'Spring Song' at St Laurence Church, Upwey, on Saturday, May 7.

Formed about 25 years ago, Encore Singers are a mixed voice choir whose repertoire includes a range of popular numbers including 'songs from the shows'.

Performing under the directorship of Julia MacFarlane, and accompanied by John Walker, for this concert they will be joined by Sue Chown, known locally for her readings of Thomas Hardy in the gardens at Max Gate.

Sue will add variety to the evening with two sets of readings following the theme of the songs in the programme.

The concert is arranged by Upwey Music, a newly formed charity which aims to promote musical performances in Upwey, particularly at St Laurence, a beautiful church with 13th century origins.

Tickets are £5 either on the door (cash only) or from www.ticketsource.co.uk. The concert starts at 7pm. Drinks will be available during the interval.
