The A354 at Fortuneswell, Portland, is closed following a two car collision.
Hambro Road is blocked both ways due to an accident involving two cars near the Britannia Inn.
There is currently congestion to the bridge and routes around Fortuneswell.
Weymouth and Portland Police say officers from Red squad are currently dealing with the collision and the road is closed whilst emergency services assess the situation.
A spokesman said: "Please be patient and we will reopen the road as soon as we can."
Traffic is gridlocked for motorists getting both on and off the island, a motorist said.
