Public loos in Trinity Street, Dorchester should be open again soon, after being shut for several weeks following a “significant leak.”
The toilets are the nearest to the town’s main bus stops and two large car parks.
One resident says he and his wife have come across several people “in considerable distress” in recent weeks while the toilets have been closed, and has only been able to direct them to nearby cafes, with the other public toilets some distance away by Waitrose or in the Borough Gardens.
Said a Dorset Council spokesman: “There was a significant leak at these toilets, resulting in them being closed for a couple of weeks. However, our contractors have just fixed the problem and once our cleaners have been in we’ll have them reopened in the next few days, provided it is safe to do so.”
