THREE men have been arrested following reports of a group causing anti-social behaviour.

Neighbourhood Officers were called to The Esplanade in Weymouth this morning to reports of a group causing anti-social behaviour on the seafront.

Police said they issued six dispersal orders directing the group to leave the area and arrested a man for drunk and disorderly behaviour.

Officers were called out again to reports of anti-social behaviour in the area and arrested a man from the group who had returned and was in breach of his dispersal order.

Following this, another man given a dispersal order was located by officers on patrol on The Esplanade and was also arrested for being in breach of the order.

All three men are said to be in police custody.

A spokesman for Weymouth & Portland Police said: "This morning, Neighbourhood Officers attended reports of a group causing anti-social behaviour on The Esplanade. Officers issued six dispersal orders, directing the group to leave the area of Weymouth town centre.

"A further male was subsequently arrested for being drunk and disorderly. He was taken to custody. Whilst in custody, officers learnt that there were further reports of anti-social behaviour. As such, we reattended and arrested one of the males for breaching the direction to leave. Both males remain in police custody and patrols continue."

Police then issued update around an hour later. The update stated: "A further male has just been arrested for breaching his dispersal order following our earlier post regarding anti-social behaviour on The Esplanade. The male was located back on The Esplanade by officers on patrol. So he has been arrested. He remains in police custody."
