Weymouth College performers are debuting an original play this week.
Bay Theatre Students present 'Beautiful Like Me', a play about two young talented dancers, Olivia and Nancy and their struggles to find success in the dancing industry because of their physical appearance.
Almost defeated, both girls discover a burlesque class where they rebuild lost confidence and learn to love themselves just the way they are.
The play seeks to demonstrate the art of burlesque and its positive effects.
A spokesperson for the company said: "Expect a night of dance, song and self-discovery as we question the stereotypes surrounding body image and celebrate individuality through Burlesque dance, an art form which celebrates our differences.
The company was founded in 2021 by students who are studying Level 3 National Diploma in performing arts as part of the course.
Beautiful Like Me debuts at The Bay Theatre, Weymouth College tonight at 7.30pm. It can also be seen tomorrow at 1pm and 7.30pm.
