Last night, two fire crews from Weymouth and Portland were called to a scrapyard on the island after reports of a skip fire.
On arrival, the crews found a large skip has caught fire and was well alight.
A spokeswoman from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Rescue Service said: "We received a call at 9:55pm yesterday following reports of a fire at a scrapyard on Portland.
"Crews from Portland and Weymouth were initially mobilised, and on arrival found one large skip well alight.
"Two breathing apparatus wearers used two main lines to extinguish the fire.
"The stop message came through at 10:37pm and resources remained on scene until just after midnight.
"No cause has been confirmed."
