How disappointing that Dorset councillors cannot see the potential of restoring Weymouth’s Channel ferries to bring much needed prosperity to the town (Echo June 15th front page)

With fuel prices through the roof, common sense says a crossing up to an hour shorter than Poole must be worth serious consideration.

No other use for the harbour peninsular is likely to bring the same return to the town as a ferry service.

Instead of dismissing the idea, Dorset Council needs to find the money to do a proper viability study.
