A HIGH risk missing person was negotiated to safety by Weymouth & Portland Police yesterday evening.
Officers had been searching for the missing person in Portland and they were located on the Westcliff.
Police officers, along with crew members from HM Coastguard and the ambulance service spent “many hours” negotiating with the person and were able to bring them to safety.
A spokesperson for Weymouth & Portland Police said: “After many hours of negotiation and with the assistance of HM Coastguard and the Ambulance Service the person has been brought to safety and is now receiving the appropriate care.
“Many thanks to the members of the public who were understanding and took an alternative route away from the affected section of coast path this evening whilst we dealt with the incident.”
