THE Armed Forces Day flag has been flown at defence support organisation sites in Weymouth and Lulworth this week to show support for military personnel.
Landmarc Support Services and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) showed their support by flying the flag at military training estates in the south west, including Lulworth Ranges and the Wyke Regis Training Area.
In a year which also marks the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands, Landmarc and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation said they wanted to extend an extra-special thank-you to veterans, full-time and reservist troops and their families.
Last Armed Forces Day, Landmarc pledged its sponsorship of Team Emotive in its mission to complete one of the world’s most difficult ocean rowing challenges – the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge – raising money for mental health charity, Veterans at Ease.
Made up of four veterans, including one Landmarc employee, Team Emotive is preparing to travel 3,000 miles from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua. They will be rowing two hours on, two hours off for 40 days, this challenge will push the team to its limits both physically and mentally.
They set off in December.
