FIREFIGHTERS came to the rescue of two people trapped within a lift in a property in Dorchester whilst they had cooking on.

Crews from Weymouth and Dorchester were called to help the pair at 4.56pm yesterday.

The two people were released after the fire service checked that the cooker in the property had not caught fire.

A spokesman for Dorchester Fire Station said: "At approximately 4.56pm today crews from Dorchester and Weymouth Fire Station responded to reports of two people trapped within a domestic lift whilst they had cooking on. Once in attendance crews made there way into the property and isolated the cooker which luckily hadn’t caught fire. Crews then went about releasing the two people from the lift."
