A DORSET man must pay a court bill after admitting assaulting another man.

Clyde Dibben, aged 57, of Orchard Close, in Shaftesbury assaulted another man by beating him in St Rumbolds Road in the town on August 19 last year, Weymouth Magistrates Court heard.

Dibben pleaded not guilty to the assault on May 6 this year but changed his plea to guilty on Wednesday, June 22.

Dibben was given a restraining order including not to contact the victim directly or indirectly and to not enter a specified road in Shaftesbury until December 21 next year.

Dibben was fined £120 and must pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34. He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs - totalling £239.
