A VIDEO shows the extent of 'traffic misery' motorists are facing between Weymouth and Portland today (July 3).
Reports suggest there are 'hourly queues' from the top of Fortuneswell on Portland, heading northbound towards the Ferry Bridge along the Beach Road.
Dorset Council has said there are long delays and queueing traffic on the A354 Portland Beach Road both ways near Chesil Beach.
The traffic is being pinned down to the temporary lights near the Ferry Bridge junction as roadworks continue within the area. Travel time is 10 minutes southbound.
Portland resident, Geoff Moore said: "More traffic misery for Portland residents.
"The traffic heading northbound starts at the top of Portland next to the crane, and it is very slow moving coming through Fortuneswell.
"The queues last until northbound motorists reach Billy Winters beach cafe.
"I understand roadworks are needed now and again, but it creates problems for people on the island as well as tourists to the area. It can very damaging for tourism on Portland.
"These works should be held at night."
