THREE motorists had their cars seized after a police crackdown on speeders along a main route in Dorset.
Yesterday (Wednesday, July 6) traffic officers from Dorset Police were on standby along the A30 Babylon Hill, between Sherborne and Yeovil.
While patrolling, police stopped motorists speeding along the route including one clocked behind the wheeling travelling 100mph. The speed limit on the road is 70mph.
A spokesman from Dorset Police said: "A lot of speeders on the A30 - the highest reading around100mph.
"Three cars were seized.
"A Ford Mondeo had no insurance, no MOT and no tax since April last year. The driver of the Mondeo was issued a fixed penalty and reported to the DVLA.
"A silver BMW was seized for no insurance, which had expired last month. The driver was issued with a fixed penalty.
"An orange BMW was seized after it was stopped for speeding at 99mph in a 70mph. The driver who only held a provisional licence, was not supervised or displaying learner (L) plates. He was reported to court."
