A CLASSIC car show is to return to Dorset for the first time since 2019.

Sherborne Classic and Supercar show takes place on Sunday, July 17 and has been run since it started in 2014 on a non-profit basis with more than £231,000 donated to local causes.

This year's show is expected to be a bumper year with 10,000 people anticipated for the event.

Among the Dorset-based charities being selected as beneficiaries this year are, headline charity Children's Hospice South West and Family Counselling Trust.

Roz Miller, CEO of Family Counselling Trust said: “We are very grateful to have been chosen as a beneficiary charity for this wonderful local event. The donation will go towards funding counselling sessions for children, young people and their families who are in great need of support with their mental health at this time.”

The show runs from 10am until 4.30pm on Sunday, July 17 at Sherborne Castle.

A spokesperson for the show said: "Now in its 17th year, Classic & Supercars can now be regarded as certainly one of the premier classics and supercar shows in the South of England with over 2,000 cars on display, from veteran and heritage vehicles to the latest supercars.

"The venue could not be better...it has been the home of the Digby family since 1617 and we are able to stage this event by kind permission of the Wingfield-Digby family, who are also Presidents of the Show."

Andy Rousell from Sherborne Classic & Supercar show said: “After a two-year break, we are delighted to bring back one of the most iconic shows in the south west, which helps raise money for such worthy local causes such as Family Counselling Trust.

"This year you’ll see over 1,500 cars on display with exciting tours and parades, all new electric village and skills tent, as well as the usual catering village, craft stalls, autojumble, charity stands and much more, all taking place in the picturesque grounds of Sherborne Castle.”
