STAFF and residents at a care home were excited to receive a piece of mail from Buckingham Palace.

In the run up to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Trinity Manor care home in Sherborne joined forces with Sherborne Primary School, encouraging the children there to enter a Create a Card for The Queen competition.

The school rallied and the home received some fantastic entries, however after a wonderful exhibition of the children’s colourful creations in the home, the residents chose their overall winner, which was created by Florence Robinson.

Florence then busied herself making a giant version of her card, which was then signed by everyone at the school and at Trinity Manor before being posted off to Her Majesty.

Sometime later, a letter with a very distinct Buckingham Palace post mark, was delivered into the hands of the residents at Trinity Manor, a Barchester Healthcare home.

Rebekah Goddard, home service advisor at Trinity Manor, who co-ordinated the card competition with the school, said: "Our residents were absolutely thrilled to receive the letter, it has literally done the rounds amongst our residents several times and they couldn’t be happier!

"It was actually signed by the Queen’s Lady in Waiting, however they were still very pleased to have acknowledgement of their card. It has spread so much joy here in the home."
