A MARTIAL arts club will bring its expertise and impressive disciplines to Weymouth beach for a day of martial art entertainment.

The Combat Lab will set up shop at the beach volleyball courts and the Boat Café this Saturday (July 23).

Throughout the day the event will see The Combat Lab coaches offering their regular classes to the public for free – with opportunities to have a go at disciplines such as Jiujitsu and Muay Thai.

In the evening, Subs on the Sand, a Jiujitsu grappling tournament, will take centre stage in front of the stadium seats.

A spokesman for The Combat Lab said: “Weymouth’s first ever submission grappling tournament will showcase two action-packed eight-man tournaments along with good music and refreshments all evening from The Boat Café.

“Please come down and enjoy the evening whilst watching some of your local fighters represent as the sun goes down on Weymouth’s incredible beach.”

The event is a free non-ticketed public event with seating and standing areas available.

Director of The Combat Lab, Jordan Garnett said: "We are extremely excited to be showcasing our exciting sport to the local community. Any time we hold an event that provides opportunities for young people and members of our community to take a foot step into our world and potentially provide the spark that inspires them to walk through the door, means the world to us.
