Rising star Millie Bobby Brown is a familiar sight on our screens in the phenomenally popular Netflix drama Stranger Things.

But we are soon to see the actor, who spent part of her childhood in Dorset, in rather different surroundings to the 1980s-set sci-fi drama.

She stars in detective drama Enola Holmes 2, which was part-filmed at Dorchester Prison.

The movie, another Netflix production centred on the sister of Sherlock Holmes, is due to be released in September.

Dorchester Prison was transformed into a film set in October 2021 when crew members were spotted at the disused site for an 'untitled production'.

Cast members used a room above Dorchester’s Corn Exchange, in High East Street, as a 'green room' - also referred to as a dressing area.

Security staff were spotted patrolling the grounds next to the prison.

Enola Holmes is based on the young adult fiction series which focuses on the teenage sister of the famous Sherlock Holmes and her thrilling adventures.

In the first 28 days after its release last September, Netflix estimated that 76 million households tuned into the film.

Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter are among the stars returning in the sequel.

Scenes were also shot in London and Hull and filming finished in January of this year.

Parts of Old Town in Hull were reimagined as Victorian London and road closures were put in place.

Enola Holmes is based upon Nancy Springer's book series about Sherlock Holmes' brilliant sister.

The same team, Jack Thorne as writer and Harry Bradbeer as director, have returned for the sequel.

The first film is one of Netflix's most successful movies of all time. The streaming platform describes the sequel as 'witty'.

It says: "Enola Holmes takes on her first case as a detective, but to unravel the mystery of a missing girl, she'll need help from friends — and brother Sherlock."

Millie Bobby Brown says 'Enola holds a special place in her heart'.

She added: "She's strong, fearless, intelligent and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!"
