A MAN whose lifelong dream was to become an author has returned to his childhood library - published novels in hand.

Anthony Burt grew up in Wyke Regis and had a love for books from a young age: spending plenty of time in the Wyke Regis Library.

He returned as part of the ‘Gadgeteers’ Summer Reading Challenge for two in-person and one online events.

Anthony has written two books with a STEM and adventure theme: his first was The Wish Fish, and his latest book is The Animal Lighthouse – featuring pirates, orangutans, mirages, and more.

Councillor Laura Beddow, Dorset Council Portfolio Holder for Culture, Communities and Customer Services said: “It’s great that Anthony has been back to Wyke Regis library to run events for local children. The Gadgeteers Summer Reading Challenge has been really successful this year."

A total of 31 libraries in Dorset are taking part in the Summer Reading challenge - including eight community managed libraries - with children aged 4-11 able to visit and pick up free materials.

Copies of both Anthony’s books are available to borrow from Dorset Libraries. To find out more about the Summer Reading Challenge visit dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/libraries.
