A MAN has been sentenced after his dog injured another man.

Wojtek Gryniewicki, whose address was given as Hardy Close in Marnhull, appeared in Poole Magistrates Court on Friday, August 12, charged with one count of being the owner/person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence which relates to an incident which took place on September 21 last year in Nailsea in Somerset.

Gryniewicki was said to have been in charge of a German Shepherd called Cola which was so dangerously out of control that it injured another man.

The defendant must keep the dog under proper control having it securely held on a lead by a person aged 16 years old or over. The dog must also be fitted with a muzzle which is sufficient to prevent it biting any person. Otherwise, the dog will be destroyed.

Magistrates were satisfied that the dog does not constitute a danger to the public because this was an isolated incident and there has not been any previous warnings or incidences.

Gryniewicki was fined £300 and must pay £200 in compensation. He must also pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 towards court costs.

The defendant's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing the sentence.
