POLICE found 'suspect plants' growing on Portland yesterday after a member of the public spotted them with a drone.

Officers said that a member of the public sent them footage taken with a drone of the plants growing in the undergrowth around the East Cliffs area.

Following investigations, the plants were located by police and disposed of.

A spokesman for Weymouth & Portland Police said: "Portland NPT were recently sent some drone footage from a member of the public of suspect plants growing in the undergrowth somewhere around the East Cliffs area of the island.

"Officers investigated today to find this little set up. Officers have disposed of the plants, and cleared the area.
