COASTGUARDS came to the rescue of a woman who had suffered a suspected broken ankle after she slipped on rocks.
Coastguard rescue teams form Portland Bill and Wyke were called at 1.38pm yesterday to help a female casualty who had injured her ankle near Pulpit Rocks on Portland.
The rescue teams helped to stabilise the woman's ankle and a member of her family took her to Dorset County Hospital for further treatment.
A spokesman for Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Team tasked by Solent Coastguard along with Wyke CRT. To a female that had slipped on rocks near to Pulpit Rock and sustained a suspected broken ankle.
"On scene the casualty's ankle was stabilised before placing her into the teams stretcher and transferred across the rocky terrain to a place of safety. The casualty was then taken to DCH by a family member for further treatment."
