A MAN was reunited with his bike just hours after it was stolen thanks to eagle-eyed police officers.

PC Matt of Bournemouth Police was on patrol with a colleague when he saw a male riding a push bike that he identified as one recently reported as stolen on Tuesday, August 16.

A short pursuit ensued down Old Christchurch Road and the male was ultimately stopped and detained.

The man who reported the bike stolen was soon reunited with his property with help from Police Community Support Officer Harold who said the member of the public was “very happy with the eyes and the ears of Dorset Police”.

PC Matt, meanwhile, said: “First of all, I am so pleased that we have been able to return the bike to its proper owner. Can I take this opportunity to remind everyone to use a proper D lock when leaving your bike, even for a short while.

“Also, if you have a bike stolen please report it as it's very frustrating not to be able to return them when they are recovered. Stay safe everyone.”

The male who reportedly stole the bike is assisting police with their enquiries.
