In keeping with the name, local artisan cider will be available, alongside Dorset sausages and a dog show, and new this year there will be a dog recall competition which is not the only competition of the day, as making a return is the mighty sausage throwing contest.

Linda Stevenson, founder of dogfriendly.social said: “We’re Delighted once again to celebrate with The Springhead this year which raises money for Margret Green Animal Charity, and feel this will be a perfect way to celebrate National Dog Day on the 26th of August.

“Dogs are such an integral part of my life, back in 2009, I welcomed my Kelpie puppy, Bruce, into my life, I’d suffered a nervous breakdown two years earlier, which left me unable to leave my home.

“I know if it hadn’t been for him, I would still be in my house, and he totally saved me.”

Linda’s birthday also falls on the same day as National Dog Day and she looks forward to celebrating with her canine companion who was the inspiration behind Linda setting up the dogfriendly.social sticker scheme in 2018.

Not only can you find stickers all across Dorset, but also as far as Portsmouth and Devon as well.

The Springhead Dog Show will take place at 1pm, raising money for Margaret Green Animal Rescue and entry is £2 per class entry with classes including, waggiest tail and best young handler.

Dogs won’t be the only furry friends making an appearance as ‘The Ranch’ will be supplying an animal corner, complete with friendly goats, pony grooming and even a guest appearance from some reptiles.

Kids entertainments will be on offer during the day including face painting, a bouncy castle and meet and greets with popular characters, including Spiderman, the Minions and Baby Shark.

There will be free parking and adults’ entry is £2 and kids go free.
