A conservation charity is embarking on a cycle tour to raise money to help support their Farmer Membership Scheme and raise awareness of good farming practices.

Two members of the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group South West (FWAGSW) will undertake the 'Green Revolutions' challenge to cycle 500km across the South West from Cornwall to Gloucestershire over a 5 day period from Saturday, September 17 – Wednesday, September 21.

Gary Rumbold, CEO of the company and Adam Lockyear, Head of Advisory Services will cover 100km each day, visiting 6 counties, and along the route, the pair will visit farms and attend events held at various stops, highlighting the success of FWAG South West projects and the work of their local Farmer Members.

Mr Rumbold said: “I am very excited to be combining this cycle challenge on the Green Revolutions tour with my other passion, sustainable food production.”

The duo are hoping to raise £10,000 in donations to support their Farmer Membership Scheme and each stop on their cycle will explore areas like how the farms and projects support thriving businesses, food and fibre production and habitats and species.

Mr Lockyear said: “Green Revolutions combines my interest in cycling and provides the perfect opportunity to link the regions in a single journey.”

Leyonne Farm in Cornwall is the first farm that will be visited over the 5- days as the pair embark on their journey as they travel from there to another farm in Cornwall and down to Devon, taking a trip to Blanford Forum later in the week.

Every donation over £5 made by donors and visitors to the farm walks will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a hamper made up of locally produced food and drink.
