A MAN has been handed a court bill totalling £302.50 for travelling on a train without a valid ticket.
Levià Chant, whose address was given as Victoria Street in Weymouth, was charged with boarding a train without a valid ticket.
The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence and the case was dealt with using the single justice procedure at North East London Magistrates' Court on Monday, September 5.
The charge was in relation to an incident which took place on January 25 this year at Dorchester South Station in which Chant boarded a train for the purpose of travel without a valid ticket to do so.
As a result, the magistrates fined Chant £220 and told him to pay £68.50 in compensation.
The defendant was also ordered to pay a £34 surcharge and court costs of £160.
The defendant's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing the sentence.
