A guided tour of one of Dorset's most historic towns is to take place comparing the old to the new.

The Historic Dorchester in Old Pictures Tour is on Sunday, September 18, meeting at the Town Pump, with one tour starting at 11.15am and another at 2pm.

The tour will involve a stroll around South Street and South Walks to explore the changes of the town by comparing the scene today to 100-year-old photos.

Guide Steve Wallis is a senior archaeologist with Dorset Council’s Environmental Advice Team, and he will also be pointing out some of the historic features of the area on the way, including parts of Roman Dorchester.

This event is free, although spaces are limited and can be booked on Eventbrite. It is part of Discover Dorchester, the area’s contribution to this year’s Heritage Open Days 2022 which is a UK-wide celebration of history and culture.
