A cruise ship due to dock at Portland Port this morning was unable to stop because of high winds.
American liner the Norwegian Dawn was part of the port's busy calendar of cruise ships that have been calling into Weymouth and Portland over the summer.
But high winds prevented the liner from docking at the scheduled time of 7am on Monday - she approached Portland Harbour then turned away and steamed down channel.
Coaches and shuttle buses arriving to take passengers to Weymouth were seen to depart empty after news of the ship's last minute change of plan.
Passengers were due to spend the day in Weymouth with the ship due to depart at 5pm.
The Met Office weather forecast for today is 'brisk winds' with gusts reaching upwards of 30mph on the isle. Anything over 29mph is classed as a 'strong wind'.
Norwegian Dawn, which flies under the flag of the Bahamas and is 295 metres long, last stopped at Zeebrugge, Belgium on September 25. She can carry up to 2,332 passengers.
