Dorset Council is celebrating more rural areas being able to access hyperfast broadband.
Giganet's £30million full-fibre investment will see another 28,000 households connected fast and reliable internet services.
The company is working hand in hand with local authorities and community groups, including Dorset Council, Ferndown Town Council and Wimborne Minster Town Council with The overall project expected to reach completion in 2024.
The first connections will be made in the coming months.
Councillor Jill Haynes, Dorset Council’s portfolio holder for Corporate Development and Transformation, said: “It is fantastic that Giganet is now ready to start delivering its £30 million infrastructure investment programme across our local communities. Not only will this boost connectivity for thousands of homes but strengthen the area’s digital infrastructure as a whole.”
Kevin Barry, Chief Network Build Officer at Giganet, said: “This is an exciting chapter for Giganet as we bring Dorset’s smaller communities up to speed with full fibre services.
"While there will be some short-term disruption from the build, this will benefit the local area tremendously in the long-term. Large or small, we’re connecting communities and making sure that no one is left behind.”
