A woman in her 90s suffered serious injuries after she was hit by a car in North Dorset.

At 10.21am on Thursday 6 October 2022 Dorset Police received a report of a collision involving a white Nissan Leaf and a pedestrian on the A357 Ring Street in Stalbridge.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a woman aged in her 90s, was taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be serious. Her family has been informed.

Road closures were put in place as the injured woman was treated and an examination of the scene was carried out. The road reopened at around 2.45pm.

Officers investigating the serious injury road traffic collision in North Dorset are now appealing for witnesses or any motorists with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

Police Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the traffic unit, said: “We have commenced an investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened.

“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area around the relevant time who has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
