THE Dorchester branch of the National Farmers' Union (NFU) Mutual has continued its support for local causes with a considerable donation to Dorset County Hospital's Greatest Need Appeal.

The group donated £6,379 to the appeal which supports vital projects across all parts of Dorset County Hospital, which is situated in Dorchester.

Those funds will be directed towards areas where they are needed most, to support patient care, to enhance the hospital environment and to improve facilities for both patients and staff.

Recently, the appeal funded a staff well-being and training project.

It also paid for resources used to produce easily accessible information for patients with additional needs about the services the hospital can provide.

Simon Pearson, Head of Charity and Social Value at Dorset County Hospital was grateful for the donation from the group. He said: “We want to thank everyone at NFU Mutual for this significant donation and particularly the Dorchester team for thinking of Dorset County Hospital at this time.

"These funds will go towards our Greatest Need Appeal and allow us to continue to improve care for our patients and ensure the ongoing well-being of our staff.”

The donation was made following discussions between the NFU Dorchester branch staff and Dorset County Hospital Charity.

Many of the NFU team had used Dorset County Hospital services over the last year, together with members of their family and friends, and they wanted to do something to thank the hospital and its staff for their ongoing support and care for the community.

Peter Galloway, Agent and Partner at NFU Mutual Dorchester said: "We’re extremely proud to have nominated Dorset County Hospital for this donation and are delighted to be able to support the vital contribution they make to our community."

Dorset County Hospital Charity was established in 1996 to enhance patient care at Dorset County Hospital and provide the support that is above and beyond the NHS budget.
