WEYMOUTH will embrace their “second chance” to crack AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup, manager Bobby Wilkinson says.

Having taken the Dons to a first-round replay courtesy of a pulsating 1-1 draw last weekend, Weymouth now get the chance to play at the League Two side’s Plough Lane tonight (7.45pm).

For the winners, a home tie with National League side Chesterfield awaits in the second round plus an extra £41,000 in the coffers.

And Wilkinson believes Weymouth have a “free hit” against the south-west Londoners, placed 58 spots above them in the English football pyramid.

He told Echosport: “We should never go there and win, should we? That’s what a lot of people will be saying, but we go there to win.

“We can go there and compete against a fantastic team but if you win, you’re in the second round of the FA Cup.

“That’s how far this club’s moving forward. We could make the second round, we’ve just got to win.

“We were brilliant last week and the place is turning. Just go there with a free hit and let’s have a go.

“As long as we go there and compete, I’ll be happy. We’ve got a second chance, let’s take it.

“Let’s not waste it and go and enjoy a day at AFC Wimbledon, I’m going there to win.

“I’m not going there to let it pass me by, neither. I know the challenge and what we’re up against. We’ll be ready, we’ll have a go.”

Teddy Howe (knee) and Brendan Willson (cup-tied) miss out but Ahkeem Rose is expected to be fit.
